Weekend in Oceanside
Last week, we decided last minute to go visit James and Maddie in Oceanside for the weekend and we are so glad that we did!!! It was a quick trip because Spencer doesn't have any time off but we have such a hard time passing up a chance to see James, Maddie, and Calvin, especially since they live AT THE BEACH! The drive is kind of long for just a weekend, but I think because we are so used to driving 18 plus hours to visit family when we lived in Iowa that it doesn't really phase us too bad! haha
We got to Oceanside around 7:30 on Friday night and Jack and David wanted to go see the beach - it was COLD!!!
We woke up to RAIN! It was cold in the morning but cleared up in the afternoon. This is the view from James and Maddie's balcony!
We went on a walk and Calvin gave us a a tour of his backyard :)
The babies took naps and then we headed to the beach for the afternoon! Photo dump time!
Kate is the master of deep squatting!!! She can squat like this for ever! haha
Their happy place!
Kate played on this chair for 30 minutes straight which is impressive to me for a wiggly little baby!
The next day we decided to go whale watching in the morning. We lucked out and saw a California gray whale, dolphins, sea lions, a seal, and a pelican - Jack insists on including the pelican every time we talk about it :)
This boy was so happy to be there!
When we saw the whales, Jack was soooo excited!!!
Kate, not so much :)
See the whale out there?
All three kids napped on the way back to Oceanside and then we hit the beach for a couple of house before packing up and heading home!
Love that beach bum :)
Jack's favorite part of the trip was hunting for sea shells - this boy loves treasures, collectibles, animals, nature, rocks, and shells! He was in heaven!
We had so much fun and can't wait until next time!!!
