Life Lately

"The further I wake into this life, the more I realize that God is everywhere and the extraordinary is waiting quietly beneath the skin of all that is ordinary. Light is in both the broken bottle and the diamond, and music is in both the flowing violin and the water dripping from the drainage pipe. Yes, God is under the porch as well as on top of the mountain, and joy is in both the front row and the bleachers, if we are willing to be where we are." -Mark Nepo

Life lately consists of hummingbird hunts (which entail army crawling with homemade bouquets of flowers as bait), swimming, play dates, flag football, t-ball, dancing to Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson's new songs on repeat, coloring, screen time, and a whole lot of ordinary. ðŸ’›

When I asked Jack and David to smile for a pictures with their flowers, they both chased me and tried to wack me in the head with their bouquets instead 😂#boymom

We filled up the kiddie pool this weekend and Kate LOVED it! The only problem is that it is onlt April and they will be over it by June! haha

I'm a broken record but I LOVE Kate's little friends and so does she! I'm so grateful for our neighborhood full of kids.

What's Up Wednesday

What we've been eating:
Besides a whole lotta Cadbury eggs and sweetart jelly beans, I made a few old but good recipes that we like:
Strawberry Spinach Salad
Raspberry Cream Cheese Pretzel Salad
Lemon Tarragon Pasta Salad
What I'm reminiscing about:
My angel mother-in-law. Her birthday was Easter this year - so very fitting :)

What I'm loving:
I love and am so grateful for my kid's friends! We had no idea when we got our rental that there were so many kids in the neighborhood and Jack has the cutest little buddies from school :) We've been playing a lot with them this month!

We've already been swimming with friends a handful of times too. Jack or David took this picture of Kate at the pool and I kind of love it :)

What we've been up to:
We did all of the Easter things and birthday things this weekend! (It was exhausting! haha)
The night before my kid's birthdays are always so sad for me :(

Kate was so happy to finally get a doll for her birthday. She's obsessed! Here she is with her birthday doll, money, head band, and shoes. She's just missing her awesome scooter my parents got for her!

We took her to Build-a-Bear to get her birthday bear, to the puppy store, and then to Soda Rush to see the Easter Bunny :)

We died Easter Eggs (well actually Spencer did with the kids because for some reason I can't stand dying Easter eggs or carving pumpkins ;)

We had a little pizza party that night for Kate with a couple of her friends and their families. She loved helping me make cupcakes :)

We had a happy Easter :) After our family Easter egg hunt, we went outside for a neighborhood hunt and breakfast before church.

What I'm dreading:
The six months of hot weather that have officially begun!
What I'm working on:
I'm finishing up my last photography class tomorrow taught by my friend Elizabeth. I've learned so much and I am excited to use my camera more! Here is a few from this month that I haven't posted yet:

This picture is from my phone but I still wanted to post it :)

What I'm excited about:
The live action Aladin and Lion King both coming out this summer! David asks to watch the trailers all of the time! haha
What I'm watching:
We are on our third season of survivor!
What I'm reading:
Just for Clicks by Kara McDowell. It was a super cute YA novel about a popular mommy blogger and her internet famous teenage daughters. Kara is local to Arizona and I used to stalk her own blog back when blogging was popular. It's fun reading a book with Gilbert, AZ as the setting :)
What I've been listening to:
I listened to a book on overdrive but it was so forgettable that I don't even remember the name and I'm too lazy to look it up. Not worth reading anyway :)
What I'm doing this weekend:
Going to a date with Spencer and sports and chores on Saturday!
What I'm looking forward to next month:
SUMMER BREAK!!!
